Players will study a variety of nationally-recognised qualifications within sport, coaching and fitness managed by SCL.

Whitstable Town Football Club has an established history of developing semi professional footballers from its local community. We aim to create as many educated and talented athletes as we can to push into the Whitstable FC first team and even higher.
There will be a subsidised cost for purchasing training kit at the start of the season. Further details about this will be provided upon the player’s acceptance into The Football Academy.
The Football Coaching is provided by us (Football Futures) and run by Josh Algar, Mark Bradley, Joseph Clayson and Billy Surbey. The Education is provided by SCL and run by Martin Sebbage.
JOSH ALGAR is a UEFA B Qualified coach with over 9 years coaching experience and 19 years football playing experience. Josh is a current West Ham Football Club scout and the current Whitstable Town Football Club Reserves Team Manager. Josh has a vast background in the football industry and was signed to Professional Club Leyton Orient FC for three seasons. Josh trialled at the following Premier League Clubs when he was younger: Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and Fulham FC, whilst also being signed to Millwall FC as a youngster. This gives him fantastic knowledge to pass onto his players, who are trying to make the big step into professional football.
Mark Bradley is a UEFA A license coach and specialises in strength & conditioning. Recently being Walsall First team strength & conditioning coach as well as the first team coach. Mark comes with a wealth of experience, having played professionally for Walsall FC & Rotherham FC, playing over 200 professional games and winning league 2 and league 1 as a player.
Joe Clayson is a level 2 football coach and is very experienced football coaching in Kent. Joe has respectfully worked in the professional game for Preston North End & Charlton Fc gaining some excellent knowledge, Joe brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our players.
Billy Surbey is a level 2 football coach. Billy has lots of experience in the youth side of football and is currently coaching in a Isthmia South U23 side. Billy works closely with our SCL squad and the individual development of our players on a 1-1 basis.
Matt is a UEFA Goalkeeper coach with over 15 years coaching in professional clubs. Matt worked closely with Charlton youth and first team goalkeepers as well as most recently working with London City lionesses goalkeepers in the Women’s super League. Matt brings great experience and knowledge to our goalkeepers.
Martin Sebbage is the academy’s Education Tutor who has over 14 years teaching experience. Martin attended University of Chichester completing a BA (HONS) Sports Studies course as well as holding a Level 5 Diploma in Teaching and Further Education.
Well done to Alex who successfully signed a 2 year professional contract with League 2 club Colchester United in September 2023. Alex joined our scholarship programme in September 2022 and excelled and developed superbly. Alex caught the eye of professional scouts through his eye catching technical ability. Alex is the perfect role model to our academy players.
We are delighted to announce our Whitstable Town FC player Ashton will be heading off to Kansas this August on a 2 year American Scholarship at Steward County College. We will be tracking Ashtons progress closely over the next 2 years. Good luck Ashton!
Well done to academy player Montrell who has signed for Isthmian Premier Side Margate FC for the 2022/2023 season. Montrell has progressed immensely with our scholarship programme over the last 2 years going from strength to strength training full-time. We are extremely proud of his success and we look forward to seeing his progression in his next step in his career.
We are delighted to announce our Whitstable Town FC Academy player Mohammed Diallo will be heading off to UCFB Wembley University this September 2022 to study sports management on a 3 year course.
Mohammed has had a brilliant time at our academy, having been training full time over the last two years. He has played in our SCL squad over the past two seasons. We are delighted to announce our Whitstable Town FC Academy player Aidan Chrascina will be heading off to California this August 2022 on a 2 year American Scholarship at Lake Tahoe Community College in California. Aidan will be completing a two year international scholarship while training and playing full time with the college and studying kinesiology. We wish Aidan all the best on this fantastic opportunity & experience, as he jets off to the states in early August.
We are delighted to announce our Whitstable Town FC Academy player Kyle Cooke will be heading off to Nottingham Trent University this September 2022 to study Broadcast journalism on a 3 year course. Kyle has had a brilliant time at our academy, having been training full time over the last two years. He has played in our national league & SCL squad every week over the past two seasons. We wish Kyle all the best on this fantastic opportunity.
James joined our Whitstable Town FC Academy Programme in September 2021. James is currently in his first year with us and has already progressed into our Whitstable Town FC men’s reserves side in a very short space of time. James is a very strong midfielder who displays good technical ability and reading of the game out of possession.
Frankie joined our Whitstable Town FC Academy Programme in September 2021. Frankie is currently in his first year with us and has already progressed into our Whitstable Town FC men’s reserves side in a very short space of time. Frankie is a very pacey and direct forward who offers exceptional pace and a threat in front of goal. Frankie is a natural goalscorer who is very ruthless in the opposition box. Frankie has potential to progress in the game and one we think can really go far.

Muhammed has been with our Whitstable Town Football Club Academy for two seasons and he caught the eye of a Fleetwood Town FC scout during a league fixture. He was noticed due to his fantastic speed, trickery and eye for goal which him resulted in him earning a one week trial. Muhammed is currently with the Whitstable Town FC first team, playing in the isthmian south league.
Position: Defender
Teddy has been with our Whitstable Town Football Club Academy for two seasons and he caught the eye of a Fleetwood Town FC scout during a league fixture. He was noticed due to his ability to read the game and aerial threat at centre back. He played over 50 non league games at just 17 years old and this resulted in him earning a one week trial.
Position: Centre Midfield
Riley Twyman has been with our Whitstable Town FC Academy for just over a year and has signed a contract with semi-professional club Ramsgate FC. Riley is a fantastic player who controls games with his fluent first touch and ball control ability.
Liam joined our Whitstable Town FC Academy programme in September 2019. Liam is currently in his second year with us and has recently progressed on to K sports men’s team in the Kent County Premier Division a very competitive men’s standard of football. Liam is a very strong full back who is physically very strong. Liam’s fitness levels allows him to be a box to box full back which makes his game more expansive. One of Liam’s biggest strengths are in 1vs1 defending situations.
Hector joined our Whitstable Town FC Academy programme in September 2020. Hector has progressed into the Whitstable Town FC men’s reserves side in a very short space of time. Hector is a technically very gifted player who moves the ball well. He controls games with his first touch, passing and eye catching through balls. Hector can play out wide or attacking midfield and has scored some fantastic individual goals. Hector is a player who we feel can go very far in the game.
Aidan has been with our Whitstable Town FC Academy for just over 1 year now and is currently in his 2nd year with us. Aidan has progressed into the Whitstable Town FC men’s reserves side on Saturdays and competes in the Kent County League, and is a very competitive standard of men’s football. Aidan is a very strong centre back who reads the game well and is very dominant in the air. He is very comfortable playing out from the back with both feet and has a bright future ahead of him.
Ed joined our Whitstable Town FC Academy programme in September 2020. Ed has progressed into the Whitstable Town FC men’s reserves side in a very short space of time at only 16 years old. Ed is a very direct, skilful and speedy winger. Ed’s biggest strength is in 1vs1 attacking situations. His quick feet and his technical ability to be able to shift the ball quickly to either feet allows him to find space to get shots off. We have a lot of promise for Ed and we know he will continue to progress in the game.
Prince joined our Whitstable Town FC Academy programme in September 2020. Prince has progressed into the Whitstable Town FC men’s reserves side in a very short space of time at only 16 years old. Prince is a very powerful and direct player who is at best when driving with the ball, his sheer pace is difficult for many to catch. Prince is at his best in 1vs1 situations as he uses his quick feet, power and speed to go past players. We have high hopes for Prince who has a bright future in the game.
Reece joined our Whitstable Town FC Academy programme in September 2020. Reece has progressed into the Whitstable Town FC men’s reserves side in a very short space of time. Reece is a very athletic and powerful full back. Reece is very technically comfortable on the ball who gets forward well and is very consistent in the attacking third with crosses from out wide. A very hardworking and committed player who we have a lot of high hopes for.
Kaine joined our Whitstable Town FC Academy in September 2020. Since then Kaine has progressed into the Whitstable Town FC men’s reserves side on Saturdays which compete in the Kent County League which is a very competitive standard of men’s football. Kaine is a fantastic shot stopper and his consistent handling and presence in goal has earned his place in men’s football in a short space of time. Kaine for a goalkeeper displays brilliant distribution which normally allows the team to play out comfortably and get into a counter attacking position quickly.
Harley joined our Whitstable Town FC Academy programme in September 2019. Harley is in his second year with us and has progressed into the Ramsgate FC men’s reserves side who compete in the Kent County League. Harley is a very powerful forward who’s biggest strength is his hold up play. Harley is fantastic in the air and uses his aerial threat to score lots of goals. At only 17 years old. His physical presence at a very young age has helped him be well equipped to adjust to men’s football.
Montrell joined our Whitstable Town FC Academy programme in September 2020. Montrell has progressed into the Whitstable Town FC men’s reserves side and First team in a very short space of time. Montrell is a very powerful and direct player who is at best when dribbling with the ball past players. He is an athletic and box to box midfielder, who has all the attributes to really progress further in the football game. His technical ability and physical presence is catching the eye of a lot of clubs. Montrell is currently with the Whitstable Town FC first team, playing in the isthmian league.
Jordan joined our academy in September 2019. Jordan has since progressed quickly into the Kent County Men’s League. He currently is signed to Borden FC into the premier division of the Kent County League. Jordan is a full back who possess a lot of quality on the ball and is very composed in possession. One of Jordan’s strength is his energy and stamina to get forward to support the attack.
Rhys was part of our academy from 2017-2019 and excelled in his time with us. He quickly progressed into the Whitstable Town FC first team under Scott Porter, he had some great appearances within the first team and scored against Lordswood FC at 17 years old in Whitstable Town’s treble winning season. Rhys is a very intelligent forward who makes excellent runs using his pace to get him into goalscoring positions.
Ryan was part of our academy from 2017-2018 and excelled in his time with us. He quickly progressed into the Whitstable Town FC first team under Scott Porter, being involved in lots of fixtures throughout the season. Ryan is a fantastic shot stopper and his consistent handling has earned him a place in men’s football consistently. During his time with us he represented other semi professional first team clubs in Kennington and Ramsgate FC.
Sam finished his 2 year academy programme with us in the Summer of 2019. Sam was a fantastic technical player who had a great range of passing. He captained the side for 2 years. Sam excelled in his studies with us, completing the course with the highest grade on the BTEC, a Level 3 Distinction. This enabled him to gain a place at the Canterbury Christ Church University, studying Sports Science.
Adam finished his 2 year academy programme with us in the summer of 2020. Adam was a fantastic full back who was very forward thinking. His speed and fitness levels to be able to get up and down the pitch created lots of attacking opportunities for the team. Adam had fantastic close control and was at best driving into space taking players on in 1vs1 situations. Adam excelled in his studies with us, completing the course with the highest grade on the BTEC, a level 3 distinction star. This enabled him to gain a place at the university of twickenham in London studying sports marketing and analysis.
Bailey finished his 3 year academy programme with us in the summer of 2020. He completed the 2 years and done the optional year 3 personal training/gym instructor course which has enabled him to gain a qualification as a Level 3 personal trainer. Bailey was a hard working full back who had superb fitness levels and covered lots of ground across the pitch. His biggest is playing forward, he receives the ball well to play forward and breaks lines quickly with his passing to get the team on the attack quickly. Bailey excelled in his studies with us completing the course with the highest grade on the BTEC, a level 3 distinction star and then moving on to the level 3 personal trainer course passing which has enabled him to be a full qualified personal trainer. Bailey progressed early on in the academy on the coaching side which has led to Bailey being taken on by academy manager Josh Algar in his Football Futures company as a full time coach. Bailey is well regarded as a coach by players and parents and has now progressed as Assistant coach in the academy and as a strength/conditioning coach.
Whitstable Town FC
Our 2017-2018 academy squad competed in the Barcelona cup in the summer of 2018. A truly remarkable achievement from our players. We only took 12 players and competed in extremely hot conditions. We managed to get through the group stage winning 2 and drawing one game. We beat a local Spanish academy in the semi final 5-1 before coming up against Deportivo in the final who had won every game up to now. The game was well contested and finished 0-0 at full time. The game went to penalties with us winning 5-4. A fantastic experience and achievement from our 2017-2018 squad.
